Deep Vein Thrombosis Stage 1 - Boarding Plane

Time elapsed: 0 : 00 HRS

Deep Vein Thrombosis [DVT] refers to self-solidification of blood in VVP of 'deep', as distinct from 'superficial' [f.i. varicose], veins. The most dangerous lesions are likely to be those which form in the large proximal limb vessels.

The cartoon illustrates normal (i.e. pulsatile) venous return circulation - interruptedly 'pumped' by voluntary or reflex contractions of the "heart in the legs" - which perfuses Venous Valve Pockets [VVP] during the caudad reflux which, by distending, closes them.
